Georgia Senate District 15 race: latest updated results in 2026 primary election
State Rep. Teddy Reese won the Democratic primary for Georgia Senate District 15 in the Columbus area in Tuesday’s election.
The seat became up for grabs with no incumbent candidate after state Sen. Ed Harbison announced in March he would not seek reelection.
Reese, an attorney who represents Georgia House District 140, leaned on his experience in the House. Reese’s top priorities related to affordability, including housing, healthcare and the cost of groceries.
He led the primary with about 58% vote, ahead of Edward D. Harbison, Sen. Harbison’s son and public policy specialist, and community organizer Alyssa Nia Williams.
With 20 years of experience in public policy, Edward D. Harbison’s top priorities during his campaign included expanding access to health care, economic opportunity and improving infrastructure. He is a human resources administrator for the Harbison Covenant Healthcare Institute
Alyssa Nia Williams, a community organizer with a background in business and legal administration, campaigned on improving the quality of life for residents, including access to adequate healthcare, good public education and economic opportunity.
Reese will face Republican Charles Herbert Hand III, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
District 15 comprises most of Muscogee County and all of six other counties: Chattahoochee, Macon, Marion, Schley, Talbot and Taylor.
The winner will be sworn into office in January after the results of the general election in November.
