Muscogee school board District 6 race: latest updated results in 2026 election

Here are the latest updated results for the Muscogee County School District Board District 6 race in the 2026 election.

The candidates are incumbent Mark Cantrell, who co-owns Action Buildings, and challenger Bob Roth, a retired U.S. Army colonel.

The winner will be sworn into office in January for a four-year term.

The following results from the Muscogee County Elections and Registration Office are complete but yet to be certified:

  • Mark Cantrell 4,646
  • Bob Roth 1,425

Mark Cantrell’s reacton to his victory

Cantrell told the Ledger-Enquirer he is humbled by and appreciative of this victory.

“The people voted me in with 75% (of the vote),” he said. “That means I have a 75% approval from the public out there, and that always makes you feel better. . . . I want to thank my wife and the Lord of above because if He hadn’t given me the strength, I never could have done it, but also my family and my friends and my supporters and the voters.”

The key to winning this election, Cantrell said, was his “good name and reputation over the years from what I have done with the Shriners, St. Jude and the school board for the last 16 years. Your reputation goes a long way, and I feel like I’ve done my best to have a great reputation for the folks to believe in me.”

Asked what he wants to accomplish during the next four years on the board, Cantrell said, “Completely improving the children’s literacy skills in third grade, and CTAE (career, technical and agricultural eduction) is a big thing for me. If it hadn’t been for me going to Jordan (Vocational High School), Action Buildings might have never been created because that’s what gave me that architectural stuff inside of me.

“So, also just improving and watching the budget. You’ve got to watch that money so close. Even though you have a lot of money, you’ve got to make sure you watch it and make sure you keep in budget and also have you a good reserve, just in case of a rainy day.”

Bob Roth’s reaction to his loss

Roth wrote in an email to the L-E, “I want to congratulate Mr. Cantrell on his win. Next, I want to thank those who voted for me on election day. I am honored and humbled by your vote! I know the results did not turn out as we would like, but it takes a lot to win an election. However, for this election, God had other plans.

“As most of my family and friends know, I lost my older brother on the 4th of April. My brother entered the hospital around the middle of March with a serious illness. Soon after, I moved him to home hospice care where he passed away. With his funeral services later that month, the campaign fell to the side. That said and having spent very little time and almost no money campaigning, I still attracted more votes than I expected. For that, I am grateful.

“With a campaign behind me and more elections to come, the people of Columbus have not heard the last of me. As a servant leader to the people of Columbus, I look forward to the future elections to come.”
