Three Columbus children dead after car accident in Oklahoma
Three Columbus children have died following a Tuesday automobile wreck in LeFlore County, Oklahoma.
The children were 6, 8, and 9 years old and were in first, third, and fourth grade at Dorothy Height Elementary, according to a Muscogee County School District press release.
The MCSD Crisis Intervention Team is currently at Dorothy Height Elementary and will remain at the school throughout next week to help the students, parents and staff cope with the news.
A fourth passenger, Arrie Matthews, 31, was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and was admitted in stable condition.
The initial report by Trooper Tim Baker says seat belts were in the vehicle, but not in use by any occupant.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
