Greenville coach Jeremy Williams named High School Coach of Year

Greenville High football coach Jeremy Williams has been named National High School Football Coach of the Year.

Williams, who suffers from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, recently got a new home on the ABC television series “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

The award, presented by the National High School Coaches Association, is also given to coaches for baseball, softball and volleyball.

Williams led the Greenville, Ga., Patriots to a 10-0 regular season record. The team finished 11-1.

“The coaches we honor are outstanding examples for successful high school coaches in their sports,” said Bob Ferraro Jr., NHSCA executive director, in a news release. “They place a high value on the teamwork skills their players learn for success in the classroom and on the field and we are proud to be honoring them.”

Williams was named the Atlanta Falcons High School Coach of the Week for Nov. 23.
