Phenix City police investigating shooting that left boy injured

A boy is currently in the hospital following an early morning shooting in Phenix City.

According to Phenix City police, around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to reports of shots fired near the area of Whiterock Road and Pine Ridge Trail.

Upon arrival, police found a boy suffering from a gunshot wound, according to a press release.

Police said the boy was then transferred to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. The case is still under investigation.
