A Mobile Airport officer and former police captain was arrested on Sept. 26 and charged with indecent exposure after reportedly exposing himself in public, Alabama police say.

An Alabama airport officer and former police captain is accused of exposing himself in public, according to police.

Danny Bell, formerly of the Daphne Police Department, was charged with indecent exposure after two women said they saw him exposing himself outside a convenience store on Sept. 20, Daphne police confirmed to McClatchy news.

Officers arrested Bell on Monday, Sept. 26, at the Mobile Regional Airport where he’s employed as a police officer, the department said. He has since been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation, an airport spokesperson confirmed.

Police were called to a Circle K store off of Main Street around 10 p.m., WALA reported. One of the women who spotted Bell said she had a young child in the car with her who may have also seen the indecent act, according to police.

Bell, who told police he was out exercising, was still at the scene when officers arrived, according to WALA.

“He denied all allegations,” police spokesperson Heather DeAngelo told the news station. “Of course, we explained to him what would happen if they did come and sign with the magistrate…press charges. Then, a warrant would be issued for his arrest.”

Bell was advised to turn himself in to police but failed to do so, police said. He was arrested at the airport and booked into jail before being released on bond.

Bell worked with the Daphne Police Department until his firing in 2014 following his arrest on domestic violence charges, according to WKRG.

McClatchy News reached out to Mobile Airport Authority for comment Wednesday, Sept. 28, and was awaiting a response.
