A tractor-trailer driver was killed in a crash after driving the wrong direction on an interstate in west Georgia this week, according to state police.

Troopers responded around 1:30 a.m. on April 11 to investigate reports of a multi-car crash on Interstate 85 near mile marker 7 in Troup County, authorities said in a news release.

A Landstar tractor-trailer was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-85 when it collided with another tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction, according to the release. The driver of the second tractor-trailer swerved to avoid hitting the oncoming truck before being struck on the driver’s side.

The wrong-way driver continued traveling into the median, returned to the left south lane and hit a third car on the driver’s side, troopers said. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Jeremy Hullaby, was ejected from the big rig with fatal injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Georgia State Patrol said the crash remains under investigation.
