A 1-year-old was accidentally run over and killed in the driveway of an Atlanta-area home, Georgia authorities say.

Officers were called just before 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23, about a vehicle accident involving a small child, according to the Floyd County Police Department.

Investigators said the child’s mother was babysitting for a friend and was helping load that child into the friend’s car. At some point, her 1-year-old unknowingly wandered behind the vehicle and was hit as the friend backed out of the driveway.

Officers arrived to find the child unresponsive, police said in a news release. He was rushed to a hospital but died.

Additional details weren’t immediately available.

Police said charges aren’t expected.

Floyd County is about 80 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta.
