If you have a sweet tooth, you may find your favorite new treat in Georgia, new rankings show.

That’s because the state is home to five of the nation’s best places to grab doughnuts, according to results the restaurant review website Yelp shared May 25.

The Georgia businesses that made the list of “Top 100 US Donut Shops” include:

The shops landed on the national list after Yelp said it studied doughnut-related businesses across the country. The website then “ranked those spots using a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews” that customers left from January 2022 to March 2023.

The results were published before National Doughnut Day, which falls on June 2 this year. While some national chains are celebrating the occasion with special offers, local businesses were fan favorites on Yelp’s list.

Why do fans love the Georgia shops?

Of the Georgia spots that earned national recognition, Ray’s Donuts in Marietta ranked the highest. Yelp gave the shop a nod in 2022.

“This old-school donut shop sticks to the classics and does them really well,” Yelp wrote at the time. “Atlanta-area residents flock to Ray’s for traditional favorites such as glazed, cream-filled, and buttermilk-infused donuts, old-fashioneds, Long Johns (large rectangular donuts), cinnamon buns, apple fritters, and lemon-filled jelly donuts.”

Marietta — roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta — is home to three other beloved spots: Dough in the Box Donuts, Dev’s Donuts and Marietta Donuts. Fans flocked to Yelp to rave that the shops dished out fresh treats and top-notch customer service.

In nearby Atlanta, the other Georgia shop to be honored was Hell Yeah Gluten Free. Some Yelp users couldn’t get enough of the business’s variety of doughnut flavors, ranging from funfetti to cookies and cream.

Despite boasting five of the top U.S. doughnut shops, the Peach State missed out on another similar list. No baked goods from Georgia ranked among Yelp’s “most unique” doughnuts within the U.S. and Canada.

Overall, the No. 1 doughnut shop in the country was Rocklin Donuts & Cinnamon, located outside of Sacramento, California.
