Memorial Day is here and for many of us that means backyard cookouts and lots of meals for the grill. That also means last minute trips to the grocery store, but the holiday may affect store hours.

Most major chains serving Columbus will be open Monday, though some are running reduced hours, and pharmacy counters in particular may be affected.

What grocery stores are open on Memorial Day

• Publix: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m
• Walmart: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
• Aldi: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Piggly Wiggly: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
• Sav-a-lot: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Fresh Market: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Green Island Grocery: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
• FoodDepot: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Asian Supermarket: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Food Lion: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Services and agencies that are closed on Memorial Day

• No garbage or recycling pickup; makeup day is Wednesday, May 27. Landfills also closed. Citizen Service Center
• Animal Control
• Property Tax
• Motor Vehicle Registration
• METRA bus service will not run.
• All Georgia state agencies and the Capitol closed.
• Banks
• All post offices closed; no mail delivery.
• FedEx and UPS
