Auburn is hosting a World Cup friendly and folks in GA can still get tickets
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to Atlanta June 15 to July 15, and the city will host eight matches in total, but soccer fans can get a sneak peek at the defending World Cup champion a little sooner.
Auburn is making history by hosting the first international soccer match ever played at Jordan-Hare stadium, with Argentina facing off against Iceland in a final tune-up before the World Cup begins next week.
Argentina vs. Iceland
The match is essentially a two-days-out tune-up for Argentina and is part of the “Road to 26” series, a series of high-profile international soccer friendlies designed to showcase top-ranked men’s national teams.
Tickets are still available, but prices continue to climb as the match approaches
What to know:
- Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
- Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
- Tickets start at $78 but can go as high as $800 for field seats
- Parking is extra
- Match happens rain or shine
- No refunds
- Rideshare pickup and drop-off will be at Ross Square and Wire Road near West Village Lot PC4.

Parking:
Plan ahead. This is game day in Auburn, and it is going to get very hectic.
- Prices range from $14 to $64
- Free parking is very limited
- City of Auburn is offering parking at the Wright Street Parking Deck (140 Wright St.) for a flat $40
- No advance reservations
- All spots are first-come, first-served
- Pay at the kiosk, via ParkMobile app, or at the exit gate
Tailgating at Jordan-Hare stadium
Get there early and know the rules. For those who want a less labor-intensive option, Auburn does offer tailgating services via RevelXP and also lists a “Road to 26 Tailgate” option for the match.
Tailgating tips
- Downtown Auburn will have an entertainment district in effect from 3–8 p.m. on June 9, allowing adults 21+ to carry alcoholic beverages from participating establishments within the district boundaries
- The district runs roughly south of East Glenn Avenue, west of North Gay Street, north of East Thach/West Magnolia avenues, and east of Wright Street
- No glass containers outside licensed premises; beverages must be in aluminum or shatter-resistant cups
- Bring a wagon
