The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to Atlanta June 15 to July 15, and the city will host eight matches in total, but soccer fans can get a sneak peek at the defending World Cup champion a little sooner.

Auburn is making history by hosting the first international soccer match ever played at Jordan-Hare stadium, with Argentina facing off against Iceland in a final tune-up before the World Cup begins next week.

Argentina vs. Iceland

The match is essentially a two-days-out tune-up for Argentina and is part of the “Road to 26” series, a series of high-profile international soccer friendlies designed to showcase top-ranked men’s national teams.

Tailgating tips

  • The district runs roughly south of East Glenn Avenue, west of North Gay Street, north of East Thach/West Magnolia avenues, and east of Wright Street
  • No glass containers outside licensed premises; beverages must be in aluminum or shatter-resistant cups
  • Bring a wagon
