Nearly 130,000 residents without power across Georgia, Alabama following severe storms
Around 28,600 people are currently without power in Georgia and around 100,000 in Alabama after a line of severe storms and tornadoes blew through the South Sunday night into Monday morning.
Georgia Power is reporting 1,830 customers in Muscogee County are currently affected by multiple power outages, as of 12:34 p.m. Monday, down from 2,856 at 7:34 a.m.
In Harris County, 63 customers are affected currently with no customers affected in Chattahoochee County.
The estimated time of restoration for customers in Muscogee is by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

As workers make repairs throughout the state today, Georgia Power is reminding customers to be aware of social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic. This includes:
- Keeping six feet between you and utility crews at all times
- No treats or special gifts for workers. April is lineworker appreciation month, according to Georgia Power, and customers can show appreciation on social media by using the hashtag “ThankALineman.”
- Don’t touch trucks or equipment
Alabama Power is reporting that more than 200,000 of 300,000 affected customers have their lights back on as of 10 a.m. They are reporting the hardest hit counties to be Jefferson, Montgomery and Blount.
Alabama customers can find outage information by logging into their account on the Alabama Power website. The company’s twitter feed is also updated frequently at @alabamapower.
