Jim Cantore, more Weather Channel experts deploy for Sally. Who will be in Columbus?

There’s a philosophy on the Gulf Coast when it comes to hurricane season: if Weather Channel star Jim Cantore is in your town, run for cover.

Cantore and other meteorologists have been in New Orleans, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida covering Hurricane Sally. The Category 1 storm is expected to make landfall Tuesday night or Wednesday morning near Mobile, Alabama.

Columbus is expected to see heavy rainfall and flash flooding from Sally as the storm moves inland.

And while Cantore isn’t coming to Georgia, the Weather Channel is sending an expert to Columbus on Wednesday. David Malkoff will be in town reporting on Sally.

Cantore, who was in Gulfport, Mississippi, is going to Pensacola, Florida, where he’ll report from the “dirty side” of the storm.
