Hurricane Ian could bring heavy rainfall to Columbus. Here’s when it could hit

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City says Columbus can expect 2-3 inches of rain later this week when what’s left of Hurricane Ian hits Georgia.

According to the NWS, the storm’s current track shows Ian heading east of Columbus, but residents should prepare for up to 4-5 inches of rain if the storm shifts paths.

Residents can expect earliest rainfall Friday, with wind gusts prior.

The National Weather Service says there is a possibility of flooding due to the heavy rain.

If you live in a flood-prone area the NWS suggests keeping materials such as sandbags, plywood, plastic sheeting, plastic garbage bags and contacting your county emergency management agency on how to protect your house.
