Freeze warning Tuesday night through Wednesday morning issued for Middle GA
The system that has essentially turned the northeast into a block of ice will send colder temperatures Georgia’s way.
The National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for the Peach State from 11 p.m. Tuesday night to 11 a.m. Wednesday.
“Basically, we just have a cold air mass that has settled on top of us,” said meteorologist Dylan Lusk.
The NWS forecasted sub-freezing temperatures as low as 26 degrees. At that temperature, “frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” said Tuesday’s NWS warning.
To prepare for the dropping temperatures, protect tender plants and water pipes. In addition to covering the pipes, allowing the faucet to drip slowly will prevent the pipes from bursting.
A freeze warning was issued for Wednesday night from Harris, Talbot, Taylor and Peach counties north. Muscogee, Macon and Houston counties south can expect slightly warmer temperatures Wednesday.
