ORIGINAL — Columbus is under a moderate risk for severe storms today and tomorrow.

Bob Jeswald, chief meteorologist for WRBL, told the Ledger-Enquirer that Columbus can expect the worst of the storms late this afternoon and some strong storms after midnight. He says those showers could linger until Thursday morning.

“I don’t think we’ve ever had anything in June like this,” Jeswald said.

He said they will be looking for super cell activity this afternoon and some large hail.

Jeswald said the area may see some clear skies by Friday, but there may be some scattered showers and storms in the region on Father’s Day.

The National Weather service has issued flash flood warnings for Muscogee County and southern Harris County until 11:45 a.m. EDT.
