Muscogee County School District reschedules football games because of Hurricane Helene
The weather reports forecasting lots of rain and wind in the Columbus area from Tropical Storm Helene, which is expected to strengthen into a Category 3 hurricane before it hits Florida this week, have prompted the Muscogee County School District to reschedule varsity football games.
Instead of playing Thursday night, these game will be played a day earlier, Wednesday, at 7 p.m.:
- Jordan vs. Sumter County at Kinnett Stadium
- Kendrick vs. Spencer at Odis Spencer Stadium.
Wednesday afternoon, when MCSD announced its schools will be closed Thursday and Friday and classes will be conducted remotely, the district also announced all MCSD after-school activities and sports are canceled for Thursday and Friday.
Then MCSD announced the following new schedule for varsity football games moved to Saturday:
- Noon, Shaw vs. Columbus at Kinnett Stadium
- 2 p.m., Carver vs. Hardaway at Odis Spencer Stadium
- 2 p.m., Northside at Harris County.
