Will Georgia’s Halloween weather be a trick or a treat this year? Find out what to expect

The Halloween vibe for Columbus and the area is usually chill, but you might want to add an extra layer under your costume because it might get downright chilly.

Although the high will be a pleasant 82℉ during the day, the temperature will start to drop as the sun goes down, with a predicted low of 59℉.

The early crowd of trick-or-treaters might not have to contend with the cooler temps, but if you plan on making this Halloween a late night, you should consider adding a light jacket to your outfit for the night. Leave the umbrella and rain gear at home — you won’t need it at all.

The sun will set early, (around 6:48 p.m.) and give way to a New Moon. This will add an extra layer of spookiness and offer cover for mischief-makers who are choosing tricks over treats.

For the Halloween homebodies

If you’ll be staying home this Halloween and passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters, you might want to stock up on some favorites.

According to The Candy Store, these are the most popular treats for Halloween:

  • Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

  • M&M’s

  • Snickers

  • Sour Patch Kids

  • Kit Kat

Steer clear of the following. These are the worst candies:

  • Circus Peanuts

  • Candy Corn

  • Good & Plenty

  • Black Licorice

  • Tootsie Rolls
