It’s been unseasonably warm in Columbus, so it makes sense that we would root for a nice, crisp fall-feeling Thanksgiving, although what seems cool to us, may not necessarily be seasonably autumnal to other areas of the country. .

We can look at long-range forecasts all we want, but Georgia weather is notoriously unpredictable, and it can be hard to know exactly what to expect. That being said, we can study historical data and look to current predictions to get a general idea of what the weather might be like on Turkey Day.

Thanksgiving is on the 28th this year, and historically, the end of November is usually pretty mild, however, may be a little cooler than originally expected and possibly a bit wet.

The Weather Channel’s extended forecast shows a high temperature of 65 degrees and a low of 43 degrees for Thanksgiving, with partly cloudy skies and a small chance of rain. The Farmer’s Almanac makes a similar prediction.

So far, there’s no severe weather predicted for Thanksgiving. But of course, we can’t rule it out completely. The National Weather Service reports the last severe weather occurring on Thanksgiving Day was in 1950, which bodes well for those families who like to spend some time outside on the day.

As always with long-range forecasts, it’s important to remember that all predictions are subject to change. Keep checking with the Ledger-Enquirer to get helpful and timely updates on Thanksgiving weather.
