PFC Convicted

Army PFC Isaiah Redd, 21, who refused to let his family even know he was in trouble, was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder today by a general court martial. Redd, of Phenix City, was convicted of killing a sergeant he said was “always on my back.”

Draft Standards

The military is lowering its mental standards in order to draft 20,000 men within nine months for special training and eventual regular service.

West Point Dam

A contract of $1.7 million for three generators to be installed in the West Point Dam on the Chattahoochee has been awarded the General Electric Co.
