Governor’s Race

Republican gubernatorial candidate Howard H. (Bo) Callaway says a write-in campaign by dissident Democrats can only help his opponent, Democratic candidate Lester Maddox.

Three Slain

Three people died early today of gunshot wounds in what apparently was a double murder and suicide, police said. The dead were identified as Ralph Cook Jr., 27, Marvin Ball, 34 and Ball’s estranged wife, Lois. All were from LaGrange.

Westmoreland

Gen. W.C. Westmoreland, commander of US forces in Viet Nam, has recently expressed gratitude for the citywide prayer rally for American servicemen held August 4 at the Municipal Auditorium.
