Butts Case

The Supreme Court today agreed to review a libel award made to former University of Georgia athletic director Wallace Butts. A Post article alleged that Butts conspired with University of Alabama football coach Paul (Bear) Bryant to rig the 1962 Georgia-Alabama game. Alabama won 35-0.

Tickets for commentator-editorialist Paul Harvey’s talk have been available at several locations in Columbus and surrounding towns, program chairman Frank Venable said today.

Fair Opens

The ferris wheel was nothing but a silver skeleton at the fairgrounds this morning. Tonight it will be covered with yellow neon lights and surrounded by milling people of every age.
