Governor’s Race

Gubernatorial opponents Howard (Bo) Callaway and Lester Maddox — greeting each other with smiles and slaps on the back — sat down with Gov. Carl Sanders today to begin going over the state’s record biennial budget requests.

Education

Representatives of 30 colleges will be at Baker High on Wednesday night to provide information for Baker juniors and seniors and their parents.

Omaha Bridge

A Chattahoochee River bridge to connect Omaha, Ga., and Cottonton, Ala., remains in the infant stages. Plans apparently hinge on a survey to determine the feasibility of such a bridge.
