Fifty years ago today, November 28, 1966
Federal court judges begin hearings Wednesday on suits and motions attacking Alabama’s school desegregation anti-guidelines. The Alabama Legislature enacted the law, at the urging of Gov. George Wallace, declaring guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare null and void in the state.
