Dem dumbery
Pity (if you like — they don’t deserve it) the poor Democrats. They were unceremoniously handed their hats in the presidential election, managing to lose to the most disliked nominee ever elected. (The same would have been said about his opponent had she won.) They failed to win a majority in either house of Congress, despite small gains in both, and the next Supreme Court confirmation will in effect give the GOP a sweep in the three branches of government.
Clearly, they need to make some major changes in how they appeal for the support and confidence of the American people.
Which explains, naturally, why their first major move since the election debacle was to reelect Nancy Pelosi as House minority leader. Pelosi, of course, is second only to President Obama as the opposition party’s favorite political dartboard — the classic Left Coast lib validating the right wing’s most cherished caricatures and stereotypes.
This is a perfect example of why the Democrats might (or might not) merit pity. They’re not just politically defeated — they’re politically impaired.
