Pistol Slaying

A 69-year-old service station attendant Thursday was found innocent in the Jan. 3 slaying of a Negro civil rights worker. The case went to the all white, all male jury in Lee County Circuit Court around 5 p.m. A verdict was delivered one hour and 10 minutes later.

United Givers

The 1967 United Givers Fund campaign has shot over its goal with a current total of $800,728.77, or 101.6 percent, in donations, campaign chairman Robert F. Worden announced today.

Help for potential suicides got a boost Thursday as the Muscogee Mental Health Association moved to push on with plans for a suicide prevention telephone service.
