J.R. Allen, chairman of the county commissioners, noting that in the Nov. 8 general election the voters of Muscogee passed constitutional amendments authorizing consolidation, said that the time has come to something.

Mental Hospital

Gov. Carl Sanders will ask the 1967 General Assembly to authorize construction of a 300-bed, $6-million regional mental hospital in Columbus, with $430,000 to be set up in fiscal 1968-69 to launch the project.

Supreme Court

Attorneys for a Sandy Springs couple say they will ask the Georgia Supreme Court today to call a runoff election in the snarled governor’s race between Democrat Lester Maddox and Republican Howard (Bo) Callaway.
