Auto Inspection

The licenses of four Columbus service stations authorized as motor vehicle inspection stations were suspended during an undercover check last week, according to 11th District Supervisor Jack Murphy. Murphy said today that statewide inspection of stations will continue.

Lindsay Creek

Release of $175 million of the $1.1 billion in federal highway funds last fall apparently will not permit a hoped-for early contract for construction of the second leg of Columbus’ Lindsay Creek Parkway.

Gov. Lester Maddox will organize a citizens’ advisory group to investigate and fight organized crime in Georgia.
