Ex-Mayor Charged
Evidence gathered against former Phenix City Mayor Elmer E. Reese and his son during a weekend narcotics raid will be presented to a Russell County grand jury. Russell County Sheriff Lamar Murphy today said that Reese and his son, William Edward Reese, both were charged with possession of narcotics, but were free under $1,000 bond each.
RFK Denies Insult
Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, D-N.Y. today denied a published report that he called President Johnson an “s.o.b.” during a 45-minute confrontation at the White House on his return from Europe Feb. 6. An aide described a Time magazine account of the exchange between the President and the senator as “almost totally inaccurate.”
P.C. Raid
A whisky still located in a brick home four miles east of Crawford, Ala., on U.S. Highway 80 was smashed today and special investigators said arrests of four men were expected.
