Police Scandal
Ex-Lt. Gov. Peter Zack Geer, has charged an apparent “whitewash” of the two former policemen whose arrest resulted in 21 men leaving the department and 11 of them charged with burglary and larceny. Geer, said in his opinion there should be a grand jury investigation of the police department “from the chief on down.”
Hospital Chief
Rodger C. Daniel Jr., 41, administrator of Barbour County Hospital, died Monday at The Medical Center in Columbus Ga., of injuries suffered in a traffic accident. Hospital officials reported that Daniel died at 12:15 p.m. Mr. Daniel, who had been at the Eufaula facility less than 10 months, was injured last Thursday in a traffic accident near Abbeville in Henry County.
Memorial Day
A soundless Broadway this morning found children and residents with their bowed heads for a ceremony honoring the nation’s war dead while similar ceremonies were being observed at the Main Post Cemetery at Fort Benning.
