Peace Plea

The general board of the National Council of Churches approved by overwhelming voice votes resolutions calling for settlements in Vietnam and the Middle East.

The board, representing 34 Protestant and Orthodox denominations, proposed that the U.S. stop the bombing of North Vietnam.

Speck Case

Judge Herbert C. Paschen of Criminal Court declined yesterday to order brain wave tests of Richard Speck, 25, convicted slayer of eight nurses on Chicago’s south side last summer.

“I am not interested in making Richard Franklin Speck a guinea pig for history,” Paschen said.
