Lurleen Cancer

Gov. Lurleen Wallace of Alabama says she has a malignancy which may require surgery again. The nation’s only woman governor said she would enter M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Tex. next week on the recommendations of her doctors. Eighteen months ago, Mrs. Wallace underwent a hysterectomy for what was described as an early malignant tumor of the uterus.

Chamber Goal

Chamber of Commerce workers here today said they are almost three quarters of the way to reaching their $35,000 goal in the Build Columbus campaign and will try to get the other $9,175 within the next week.

Bus Company

Columbus Transportation Co., operators of the bus line in the city, has offered to sell out to the city for $294,500, subject to approval of stockholders. Mayor B. Ed Johnson pointed out to commissioners that the purchase would bring bus service to people in the south part of town who do not now have it.
