Typhoid
Half the citizens in this southwest Georgia town of 1,000 received typhoid shots this week since the death Monday of a teenage girl who died of the communicable disease. Health authorities said Ernestine Calhoun, 17, of Omega died in nearby Sylvester General Hospital.

John Bradley and N.W. Phillips have been named to the Phenix National Bank’s advisory board by the bank’s board of directors, according to officials.
