Sen. Richard Russell, D-Ga., sharply denounced the Johnson administration for sending planes and men into the Congo to help quell a local rebellion.

Houston surgeons removed a malignant tumor from the abdomen of Alabama Gov. Lurleen Wallace on Tuesday, and one said “we see no cause” why she should not make a complete recovery.

The Cincinnati Reds’ Tony Perez hit the game-winning home run off Jim “Catfish” Hunter of the Kansas City A’s in the 15th inning Tuesday to win baseball’s annual All-Star Game for the National League in Anaheim Stadium. Perez, 25, in his third full season with the Reds, was named the All-Star Game MVP.
