Shaw Heart Attack
The physician treating Dr. William Henry Shaw, Muscogee schools superintendent, today said tests indicated Dr. Shaw has had a “slight heart attack” but that he is “doing beautifully.”
Dr. Shaw was admitted to The Medical Center early Friday morning after becoming ill at home during the night.
Moptops for Pot
The Beatles today demanded that smoking marijuana be made legal.
The beat quartet trumpeted their demand in a full page advertisement in the Times of London.
The Beatles each added the letters “M.B.E.” to their names, remining readers of their Members of the British Empire status.
Other signers included author Graham Greene, critic Kenneth Tynan and 15 doctors.
Birth Control
A $60,400 federal grant has been given to the Muscogee County Health Department to extend its family planning services.
The funds will be used in an 18-month program designed to reach all women in Muscogee County who are interested in spacing their children or limiting the size of their families.
