No Riot Duty

No Fort Benning troops are scheduled for riot duty as present, a Defense Department spokesman said today in Washington. Several small support units, including military police, motor transport and communications personnel, have been alerted for assisting the troops on duty in Detroit, but none is based at Fort Benning, the spokesman said.

Nabbed in N.Y.

Robert Mitchell, a 27-year-old man who walked off from a work detail at Lee County Jail where he was serving a six-month term, has been apprehended in DeWitt, N.Y. according to Sheriff Paul Ragsdale. Mitchell was convicted during the May term of Lee County Circuit Court on a charge of assault and battery.

UG Goal

The 1967 United Givers goal will be approximately $800,000, according to Joe Flowers Jr., a past chairman of the drive. Flowers, speaking Wednesday to the Phenix City Lions Club, said that the UG campaign went $24,151 over its goal in 1966, with a goal of $787,865 and collections of $812,016.
