Medal of Honor
Staff Sgt. Jimmy G. Stewart was the only man in his squad not wounded. He gave his life fighting off a Viet Cong platoon for four hours in an effort to save five buddies. The former Fort Benning soldier, whose family lives in Columbus, will be posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at a White House ceremony.
Motorist Held
The driver of a car which police say struck and killed three young sisters near Tuskegee Monday has been charged with second degree murder. Capt. C.S. Prier, of the Alabama State Troopers, identified the man as Guy Hammett Potter of Tuskegee.
Civil Rights
If either the Alabama House or Senate repeats an action it has already taken, school children in this state will have a voice in deciding whether they will have white or Negro teachers. Both chambers passed a bill to that effect Tuesday.
