War Opposition

Col. Harry O. Smith, director of Selective Service in Georgia, says the unpopularity of the Vietnam war has caused an increase in draft evasion cases. Smith said Sunday the war is proving to be “one of the most unpopular things we’ve (the United States) ever been in.”

Callaway Gift

Callaway Foundation Inc. of LaGrange has given a $150,000 donation to the Shorter College Fund, Dr. Randall H. Minor, college president, announced Friday.

PC Vacancies

One of three important positions which have been vacant in Phenix City has been filled — the post of principal of Central High School, taken by Joe R. Hair, formerly supervisor of instruction. Still open are the posts of administrator of Cobb Memorial Hospital and director of the Phenix-Russell Chamber of Commerce.
