Post Shooting

Fort Benning officials were silent today on how the shooting death of a 20-yer-old soldier from New York occurred Tuesday. The victim was identified as Pfc. Abram Gabriel, of 1791 Walton Ave., Bronx, N.Y.

Job Well Done

At least one local resident is pleased with the way her garbage is collected. Mrs. Henry E. Thomas, 3912 Lakewood Drive, wrote County Engineer J. Dayton Willis a card which he read in Tuesday’s Muscogee County Commission meeting. Mrs. Thomas said a garbage can she bought in 1961 for $1.99 has never been banged up by collectors and she commended the excellent garbage service she has received.

Movie Injunction

After some six hours of arguments, Muscogee County Superior Court Judge John Land Tuesday continued an injunction against a union which picketed John Wayne’s movies at Fort Benning last month. The main contention in the dispute centers around the fact that Batjac Productions Inc., producers of the film, “The Green Berets,” is paying International Artists, a California-based union employed on the set, a lower scale than that required by Scenic Artists.
