City Pension Plan

Columbus City Commissioner Jesse Binns presented a proposed ordinance for corrective measures should the city’s retirement plan “go into the red.” His proposal comes barely one week after it was disclosed in a Muscogee County audit report that the county’s pension fund is actuarially unsound.

Waiting Wives Club

Columbus area wives of servicemen who are waiting for husbands to come back from Vietnam and other overseas areas don’t have to wait alone. The Waiting Wives Club is regrouping and eager for new members.

Dr. H.T. Jones Dies

Dr. Henry T. Jones, a West Point physician and surgeon, died Monday at Valley Memorial Hospital. He served on the staff of the Valley Memorial Hospital and was chief of staff at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Langdale, Ala. He practiced medicine in West Point and in Tallassee, Ala. He was in the Lanier hospital post at the time of his illness.
