Course For Sale?

A proposal to move the golf course of the Columbus Country Club to a new site north of the city will be made to the club’s board of directors, probably on Wednesday. Presumably, if the offer is received favorably, the golf course land — on one of the prime sites within the city — would be developed as a residential area.

Patterson Tapped

Jack Patterson, son of the late Albert Patterson, who was shot to death June 18, 1954, after receiving the Democratic nomination for state attorney general, has been appointed assistant U.S. attorney for the middle judicial district of Alabama.

Excursion Boat

A new effort is under way to obtain a paddlewheel steamboat for pleasure excursions on the Chattahoochee River. Fred Schomburg Sr., who has spent years trying to promote interest in such a project, said that a suitable boat has been found and can be purchased for $180,000.
