Negro Joins Board

The first Negro ever appointed to the Muscogee County Board of Education is Dr. James M. Grant, a dentist, who has been named by the Muscogee County Grand Jury to fill the unexpired term of the late Spencer Waddell.

Dr. Grant, who has practiced dentistry in Columbus for 27 years, is a graduate of Howard University in Washington.

Airport Move?

Relocation of Muscogee County Airport has been proposed by the Muscogee County Grand Jury.

Juror presentments said any reasons for retaining the airport at its present location would be outweighed by the advantages of moving.

Safety Chief Urged

The suggestion came after an investigation of a police department scandal earlier this year.
