New PC Mayor

The nomination was seconded by Lott. Bailey voted “yes” on the election of himself to the highest city office.
GOP Poll
Richard M. Nixon has topped an Associated Press poll of Republican leaders asked to name the favorite for the presidential nomination at the national convention next year.
However, the strongest potential ticket would be composed of Govs. Nelson Rockefeller of New York and Ronald Reagan of California, survey participants replied. A Nixon-Reagan combination ran second.
Expressway Plan
A stretch of Columbus-Manchester Expressway, listed by the state as the “most hazardous” in Georgia, may yet be made into a limited access. City Commission Monday voted to pay up to $150,000 of the estimated $1 million cost, upon a recommendation of City Manager Ralph Sayers. The stretch in question lies between Gentian Boulevard and the Lindsay Creek Bypass.
