‘UFO’ Pranksters

Unidentified flying objects reported over a wide area of middle Georgia recently can be traced to pranksters. The objects were, for the most part, blue plastic laundry bags and colored balloons, Georgia Bureau of Investigation Lt. H.J. Spurlin said yesterday.

Police in Coweta, Talbot and Taylor counties reportedly watched one of the “things,” first reported by a highway patrolman in Manchester.

The Justice Department won a Supreme Court hearing Monday on its effort to back with criminal prosecution the right of Negroes to use public accommodations.

If the court rules in favor of the department, the government will have greater power to bear on those who intimidate – or physically harm – Negroes using restaurants or other facilities covered by the 1964 federal civil rights law.
