Georgia lawmakers next month will be working on a reapportionment plan that apparently will slice a seat out of Muscogee County’s House delegation. The fact that the country has not kept up with other portions of the state in population growth was cited as a reason.

Astronaut Dies

Maj. Robert H. Lawrence Jr., America’s first Negro astronaut, has been killed in the crash of an F104 Starfighter jet as it landed after a routine training flight. An Air Force spokesman called him “one of those young bright guys with everything going for him.”

Sports

The way Mike Stokes of Baker is acting you’d think he was carrying some kind of grudge against Central High School. He scored 23 points in the final Baker Central clash of the 1966-67 season in leading the Lions to victory.
