Jury Probe
Muscogee County Grand Jury foreman Jack Favors said today “we will make the investigation complete all the way to city hall” in the current probe of reported payments to police department personnel to allow sales of illegal mixed drinks in Columbus.
Arsenic Slaying
Authorities today began digging up the bodies of three more members of the family of Mrs. Janie Lou Gibs, who is already charged with the arsenic slaying of one of her sons. Superior Court Judge William L. McMurray granted officers’ request for an order allowing exhumation of Mrs. Gibbs’ husband, Charles, and her other two sons, Marvin, 13, and Melvin 16.
Seibold Trial
Edward Albert Seibold, 21-year-old accused slayer of three young Auburn girls, will go on trial Jan. 15 on three charges of first-degree murder. Seibold nervously made a chain from paper clips during the hearing today. He broke into quiet laughter at times.
