Second Trial

An all-white, all-male jury picked Saturday afternoon was locked up in an Opelika motel for the weekend awaiting the start of the second murder trial of Edward Albert Seibold, a 21-year-old Auburn University dropout accused of slaying three Auburn girls. Seibold was convicted Saturday of the murder of 9-year-old Mary Lynn Sinclair and was sentenced to die in the electric chair March 15.

Benning Checks

Banks in the Columbus-Phenix City area will be open an additional two hours on Jan. 31 to help meet the anticipated flood of checks from 17,000 Fort Benning servicemen on Army payday. In the past, Fort Benning has paid the majority of its servicemen in cash.

Nurse Training

Thirteen prospective licensed practical nurses today began on-the-job training at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City. Walter Riddle, superintendent of Phenix City schools, announced last week that the program had been approved by the State Board of Nursing.
