Letter to the editor: Georgia legal community mourns loss of Columbus DA Stacey Jackson
On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to extend condolences to the family, colleagues and many friends of Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Stacey S. Jackson on his untimely passing at the age of 50.
A member of the Georgia Bar since 2000, Mr. Jackson was a partner in the firm of Hagler, Jackson & Walters in Columbus prior to his appointment as district attorney by Gov. Brian Kemp in 2022. A native of Harris County, he had also previously served as an assistant district attorney and judicial clerk in the Chattahoochee Circuit prior to entering private practice. Gov. Kemp has appointed Chief Assistant District Attorney W. Donald “Don” Kelly Jr. to serve the remainder of Mr. Jackson’s term in office.
Stacey Jackson will be missed and fondly remembered by his fellow members of Georgia’s legal community. We appreciate his career-long dedication and the many contributions he made through his service to the public and the justice system.
J. Antonio “Tony” DelCampo is the president of the Georgia Bar Association. He’s the 61st president of the association.
