A hand grenade possibly hurled by a Viet Cong terrorist exploded near the Tan Son Nhut Air Base outside Saigon wounding eight Americans and three Vietnamese.

GI Training

The Army is opening new training centers at three of its major bases and bringing 15,000 soldiers with urgently needed skills home from Europe to hasten its Viet Nam buildup.

Bama Welfare

A hearing examiner recommended Thursday that the government cut off welfare aid to Alabama because the state failed to comply with the 1964 Civil Rights Act.
