Ku Klux Klan

Ex-congressman Carl Elliott has again opened fire on the Ku Klux Klan and says that if he’s elected governor he’ll eliminate the hooded order’s “sinister influence.” Elliott, touring Jefferson County communities Friday, pledged to “run the Ku Kluxers out of Alabama” along with a crackdown on other extremist groups.

Medicare

President Johnson, pushing his health program another notch ahead, has called for a report on how the country is “tooling up” for the massive Medicare program which takes effect July 1.
